**The whole BDB entry:** vb. jest (NH Hiph. id.; 𝔗 לְעַב Ethpa. id.; Syriac ܠܥܰܒ Ethpa. mock, delight oneself, be greedy; Arabic لَعِبَ play, sport, jest);—only Pt. וַיִּהְיוּ מַלְעִבִים בְּ׳ 2 Ch 36:16 and they were (continually) making jest at the messengers of God.

וַיִּֽהְי֤וּ מַלְעִבִים֙ בְּמַלְאֲכֵ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וּבוֹזִ֣ים דְּבָרָ֔יו וּמִֽתַּעְתְּעִ֖ים בִּנְבִאָ֑יו עַ֠ד עֲל֧וֹת חֲמַת־יְהוָ֛ה בְּעַמּ֖וֹ עַד־לְאֵ֥ין מַרְפֵּֽא׃

*JPS 1917:* but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.
