# abhor

verb (abhors, abhorred, abhorring)

«abhor» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

It means to loathe or reject; God says He will not abhor Israel, and Israelites are told not to abhor Edomites or Egyptians.

**Interpretation.** The tradition notes the kindness here: Edom is a brother, and Egypt gave shelter, so their descendants are not to be hated. In the primary lessons: a good character who hates cruelty or lies, and a wicked one who is shunned by others
