# abomination

noun

«abomination» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

It is a strong word for acts or things that God forbids, such as idol worship, forbidden relations and cheating with weights. The Hebrew word is to'evah.

**Interpretation.** Rabbis taught that to'evah marks the most serious wrongs, and they often saw in it a warning about how Israel should live apart from the ways of Canaan.
