# adar

proper noun

«adar» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

In Sefer Yetzirah, each month is linked with a letter, a sign of the zodiac and a body part; Adar goes with Qoph, Pisces and the spleen.

**Interpretation.** Adar is the month of Purim, and the rabbis say that when Adar begins, joy increases. Sefer Yetzirah ties it to laughter, matching its link to Qoph.
