# amended

### In the lessons

Used for rules, timetables, laws and homework: an amended timetable has small changes. It tells the reader that a first version was fixed or improved. Phrases: amended version, amended rules, as amended, amended timetable.

### Note

"Amend" means to change slightly to improve; the noun is amendment. Do not confuse amend with "emend" (correct a text; rare) or with "mend" (fix something broken). "Make amends" means to make up for something wrong you did. In maths, an amended answer is a corrected one.
