# anatomical

adjective (anatomical)

«anatomical» in the English dictionary: everyday and in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## Everyday

Anatomical means to do with the structure of the body of a person, animal or plant, as in an anatomical drawing. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/A/anatomical/#m1)

### In the lessons

In science lessons, anatomical diagrams and models show bones, muscles and organs. In history and art, Leonardo da Vinci made famous anatomical drawings. In sport and medicine, anatomical words name body parts exactly. Anatomically correct means shaped like the real body.

## In Jewish tradition

Here it describes the body parts the text links to hidden things, such as the tongue and the genitals.

**Interpretation.** Readers note that the text pairs the hidden word in the mouth with the hidden body part revealed at circumcision, linking speech with the covenant.

### Examples

- There is also a spatial-anatomical parallelism between the terms employed by the SY: the tongue concealed above, the genitals concealed below. (Sefer Yetzirah, Sefaria community translation) [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/judaism/A/anatomical/#x1)
- Both items refer to anatomical hiddenness: the word emerging from the tongue, hidden in the mouth, and circumcision of the genitals, the concealed lower organs revealed during circumcision.
