### Meaning

(euphemism) housing for older or disabled people where staff help with daily tasks; a kind of care home.

### In the lessons

US first, now UK and elsewhere; used in adverts and family talk to sound friendlier than «old people's home».

### Examples

- Grandma moved into assisted living.
- The assisted-living home has a garden and a doctor nearby.
- Advert: «Assisted living with dignity.»
- Assisted living helps people stay independent.
- Family: «We're looking at assisted living for Dad.»
- News: «Demand for assisted living is rising as people live longer.»

### Note

Stands for «a care home» or «a home with help». Gentler words for the same thing. Not a hospital.
