## In Jewish tradition

In Ruth the whole town is excited and stirred up by the return of Naomi.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads the townswomen's question as showing how greatly Naomi had changed, from a rich woman to a poor widow. It is a moment in the story of Ruth, read at Shavuot.
