## In Jewish tradition

In Daniel it means one of the Babylonian wise men who claimed to read the stars and explain dreams. They could not tell the king's dream.

**Interpretation.** The story shows that only God, through Daniel, can reveal secrets. Tradition reads it as a lesson that the stars and magic have no real power over Israel.
