### Note

Gives a count of people. Trap: if the same people attended on two days, do not count them twice. «Attend» needs no «to» for places: «attended the party», not «attended to the party» («attend to» means look after). The noun is «attendance».

## In Jewish tradition

In these texts it means listened with care or paid attention. It is often said of God hearing a prayer, or of people who ignored the call to listen.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads God's "attending" to prayer as a promise that He hears His people. The refusal to attend is the sin that the prophets and Proverbs warn against.
