# attestation

noun

«attestation» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

In Ruth it means the public sign that a deal was settled, which was handing over a shoe.

**Interpretation.** Tradition sees the shoe as a sign of the transfer of the right to the land. It was a way to make a deal binding before witnesses.
