## In Jewish tradition

A wooden bar used to hold the boards of the tabernacle together. In Moses' blessing of Asher, bars of iron and brass mean strong locks that protect.

**Interpretation.** The acacia bars are read as keeping the tabernacle firm and joined as one. The middle bar is said by tradition to run through the boards from end to end.
