## In Jewish tradition

In Kings and the Song of Songs beams are cedar timbers in the Temple and in houses. Solomon's building had beams in rows with light over against light.

**Interpretation.** The Hebrew word karan can mean horn or ray, so Moses is sometimes drawn with horns. Tradition reads his shining face as a sign that God's glory had touched him. The cedar beams of the Temple are read as showing the care given to God's house.
