# beguile

verb (beguile, beguiles, beguiled, beguiling)

«beguile» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

It means to deceive or trick someone with smooth words. The Assyrian officer warns the people that Hezekiah is leading them astray.

**Interpretation.** In the Assyrian siege the officer claims the people's trust in God is a trick. Tradition reads Hezekiah's trust as faith, and the Assyrian as an example of a boaster who mocks God and falls. In the primary lessons: in tales, a person is charmed or tricked; or someone tells stories to pass the night
