## In Jewish tradition

Hebrew for "son of," found in names like Ben-ammi and Ben-oni.

**Interpretation.** Jewish names often say "son of" a father, as in Moses ben Amram. Rachel named her baby Ben-oni, "son of my sorrow," and Jacob changed it to Benjamin, "son of the right hand."
