## Everyday

Happening twice a year. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/B/biannual/#m1)

### In the lessons

In everyday life, a biannual check-up at the dentist or a biannual school newsletter comes twice a year. In maths problems it means 2 times in 12 months, usually about every 6 months.

### Examples

- We have a biannual dentist check-up. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/B/biannual/#x1)
- The school holds a biannual book fair, in spring and autumn. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/B/biannual/#x2)
- The magazine is biannual, so there are two issues a year. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/B/biannual/#x3)
- The garden club meets biannually. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/B/biannual/#x4)
- Our biannual car service is due next month. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/B/biannual/#x5)

### Note

Big trap: «biannual» = twice a year; «biennial» = once every two years. Many people mix them up, so writers often say «twice a year» to be clear. In a maths problem: 3 years of a biannual event = 6 times.
