### In the lessons

Used in stories and everyday life when someone speaks too quickly: they blurt out the answer or a secret. It tells the reader the words came out without control. In class, blurting out answers means not putting your hand up. Phrases: blurt out, blurt out the answer, blurt out a secret.

### Note

Usually used with "out". Regular verb: blurted. Similar: burst out, let slip. Blurting is not lying; it is saying things too quickly.
