## In Jewish tradition

Used for the "brazen altar" and its fittings. Ezekiel also uses "brazen-faced" for people who are bold and shameless and will not listen.

**Interpretation.** Tradition remembers the "brazen altar" as the outer altar in the courtyard, where animal offerings were burned. Ezekiel's "brazen-faced" people are read as a stubborn people whom God still sends the prophet to warn.
