## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah, to call a name often shows who the person or place is, and says why. God "calls" to people, and also gives names by calling.

**Interpretation.** The giving of a name tells something about the one named. The rabbis also read God's calling to Moses ("Moses, Moses") as a sign of love.
