# chequer

noun

«chequer» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

The tunic of the high priest was woven in a checked or squared pattern of fine linen. The Psalms also use the word for the king's daughter's raiment, chequer work inwrought with gold.

**Interpretation.** The priestly garments were made with great care, and each was taken to atone for particular sins. The tradition reads the royal bride's rich clothing as a picture of honour and glory.
