### Note

The word copies the sound itself (onomatopoeia), like «moo» and «quack». A hen clucks; a rooster crows; chicks cheep. «Cluck» (sound) and «clock» (time) sound different. «Dumb cluck» is old-fashioned and a bit unkind.
