### Meaning

(euphemism, polite) when separated or divorced parents both bring up their child, sharing time and decisions.

### In the lessons

A kind, modern word that focuses on both parents' care instead of the divorce; used by families, schools, courts, counsellors. All regions.

### Examples

- After the divorce, my parents are co-parenting well.
- Co-parenting means I spend weekdays with Mum and weekends with Dad.
- The counsellor gives co-parenting advice.
- They co-parent their son, even though they live in different towns.
- Co-parenting can be hard when parents disagree.
- The school sends reports to both co-parenting parents.

### Note

It means «sharing the raising of a child after splitting up». It is neutral and kind. In maths: a child who spends 2 days a week with one parent spends 5 with the other.
