### Meaning

To coddle someone is to treat them with too much care and fuss, as if they were very small or ill.

### In the lessons

in stories a loving carer hugs or fusses over a child; «coddle» can also mean to cook something gently in hot water, but the tales use the fussing sense.

### Examples

- Grandma coddled the baby all morning.
- The nurse coddled the sick boy with warm soup and blankets.
