## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah, to commit a sin or a trespass means to do a wrong act against God or other people. In Proverbs and Job, to commit something to God means to hand it over to Him and trust Him with it.

**Interpretation.** Tradition teaches that sins between a person and God and sins between people need repentance, and the second kind also needs forgiveness from the person hurt. It also reads "commit thy works unto the LORD" as a call to trust God with one's plans.
