# dandle

verb

«dandle» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

It means to hold and fondle a child tenderly. Jeremiah uses it for God's love of Ephraim, and Lamentations for children lost in the siege.

**Interpretation.** Jeremiah's verse is read as God's deep love for Israel as a beloved child, even when it has strayed. In Lamentations the picture shows the awful grief of hunger.
