### In the lessons

Very common in timetable maths: departure time and arrival time — subtract to find the journey time. At airports and stations, «Departures» shows leaving flights and trains. Phrases: «departure time», «departure lounge», «point of departure», «a new departure».

### Note

Verb «depart». Opposite: arrival. In maths: journey time = arrival − departure; departure = arrival − journey time; count across the hour carefully (9:40 to 11:10 is 1 h 30 min).
