## In Jewish tradition

It means to hide one's wrongdoing by pretending, or to deal falsely. Achan stole and then hid the stolen goods.

**Interpretation.** Joshua's story of Achan shows that hidden sin affects the whole community. The tradition sees the lesson that secret wrongs cannot be hidden from God.
