## In Jewish tradition

In Ezekiel "doted" means loved too much and foolishly. It is used as a picture of Oholah and Oholibah, who stand for Samaria and Jerusalem, running after foreign nations. In Sefer Yetzirah dots were also a way of writing numbers.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads these verses as a picture of Israel being unfaithful to God, like a wife who loves other lovers.
