Noun: enclosure (a fenced area, or something put in a letter). Maths: «the area enclosed» = the area inside the boundary; a fence of 4 m by 3 m encloses 12 square metres. Do not use a barbecue or heater in an enclosed space: gas fumes are dangerous.

## In Jewish tradition

In Lamentations, hemmed in by God's hand as in a prison, a picture of suffering.

**Interpretation.** Lamentations is read on Tisha B'Av, the fast day for the destruction of the Temple.
