### Note

Two very different senses: «carried out» and «put to death by law» — the context tells which. Noun: execution; a person who executes people is an executioner. Not the same as «exempt» or «exited».

## In Jewish tradition

Carried out, as in judgments brought on Egypt's gods or God's justice done by Gad's tribe. In the Prophets and Writings it also means a king carrying out justice, and a judgment carried out on a wicked king.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads the judgments on Egypt's gods as meaning the idols themselves were destroyed during the plagues. David's carrying out of "justice and righteousness" is taken as the model of a good king.
