### In the lessons

In maths you extend a line, a pattern or a number sequence; in maths problems «extend by» means add. In everyday life houses are extended and deadlines extended. Phrases: «extend a deadline», «extend by», «extend a warm welcome», «extended family».

## In Jewish tradition

Tradition reads Nehemiah's words as showing God's long patience: He warned Israel through the prophets before punishing them. The psalm's wish that no one extend kindness is read as a harsh prayer against a wicked enemy. In the primary lessons: In maths you extend a line, a pattern or a number sequence; in maths problems «extend by» means add. In everyday life houses are extended and deadlines extended. Phrases: «extend a deadline», «extend by», «extend a warm welcome», «extended family».
