### In the lessons

In school, «extension work» or «extension tasks» are harder questions for those who finish early. In everyday life: a house extension, an extension cord (lead), extra time for homework. Safety: do not overload extension leads. Phrases: «extension lead / cord», «build an extension», «get an extension», «by extension».

### Examples

### Note

From «extend» (make longer or bigger). Spelling: «-sion». Safety: never plug lots of extension leads into each other or overload them; they can overheat. In maths, «extend a line» or «extension» means make it longer; an extension of 3 days adds 3 to the deadline.
