### Meaning

1. (euphemism, formal) things women and girls use during their period (monthly bleeding), such as pads and tampons.
2. sometimes also includes other washing and care products sold for women.

### In the lessons

Polite shop, health-class and official wording that avoids the words «period» or «bleeding»; used on shop signs, school notices and government documents. Formal-polite, all regions. Many people now prefer the plainer «period products».

### Examples

- Feminine hygiene products are in aisle seven.
- The school offers free feminine hygiene products in the girls' toilets.
- The charity collects feminine hygiene products for families in need.
- The health class explained what feminine hygiene products are for.
- Some countries have removed tax from feminine hygiene products.
- Many people now just say "period products" instead of feminine hygiene products.
- The food bank asked for donations of feminine hygiene products.
- Please put feminine hygiene products in the bin, not the toilet.

### Note

Trap: «hygiene» means keeping clean, so the phrase sounds vague; it really means period products. There is nothing rude or embarrassing about periods; it is ordinary health. Plain words: pads, tampons, period products.
