# fille

noun (French: une fille, des filles); not an English word

«fille» in the English dictionary: everyday — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## Everyday

(French) «Fille» means «girl» or «daughter»: «une petite fille» = a little girl, «ma fille» = my daughter. It sounds like «fee» with a soft y at the end («feey»), and it is not an English word. [tree →](https://mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/F/fille/#m1)

### In the lessons

In French lessons, «fille» is learned with «garçon» (boy): «Je suis une fille» = I am a girl. «Fille» is a feminine noun, so it goes with «la» and «une». Grown-ups know the phrase «jeune fille» (young lady). Do not mix it up with English «fill» or «file».
