### In the lessons

In everyday life a broken thing can be fixed by an adult or a repair person. In maths and science, a fixed number or amount stays the same while others change (a fixed point, a fixed cost per item); in experiments, a fair test keeps some things fixed. Phrases: fixed to the wall, a fixed price, fixed in place, fixed on (looking only at), get it fixed.

### Examples

## In Jewish tradition

Interpretation: Sefer Yetzirah says God "fixed" the twenty-two letters like a wall with 231 gates, as if setting a pattern that never changes. The twelve fixed signs are read as the rulers of the year. In the primary lessons: In everyday life a broken thing can be fixed by an adult or a repair person.
