## In Jewish tradition

The Bible often uses flourishing for the success of the righteous, who are likened to trees. Psalm 92 compares them to the palm tree and the cedar.

**Interpretation.** Tradition reads the image as the steady growth of the righteous, who go on bearing fruit even in old age.
