### Meaning

1. (euphemism, polite) having a large or plump body, used especially about women, often in fashion and clothing adverts.
2. (of drawings or statues) showing the whole figure.

### In the lessons

A polite fashion and advertising word for bigger body sizes; polite, all regions, a little old-fashioned. Body descriptions can hurt, so it is better not to comment on people's bodies at all.

### Examples

- The shop sells clothes for full-figured women.
- The painting shows a full-figured woman in a red dress.
- The model is proud to be full-figured.
- The catalogue has a special section for full-figured shoppers.
- Advertisers say "full-figured" instead of "large".
- In the old film, the actress was described as full-figured.
- Many people now prefer "plus-size" or just their real size.
- It's kind not to comment on whether someone is thin or full-figured.

### Note

Trap: it is a polite cover for «fat» or «large», and some people still dislike it. Plain words: plump, large, plus-size. Avoid commenting on bodies.
