### Meaning

1. (euphemism, advertising) small; a small version of a sweet or chocolate bar.
2. (humorous) small or short, about people or things: «my fun-size sister».

### In the lessons

A marketing word that makes «smaller and less» sound playful; very common on sweet packets and at Halloween in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Used jokingly about short people.

### Examples

- The kids came home with bags of fun-size chocolate bars.
- A fun-size bar is much smaller than a normal one.
- "Fun-size? There's nothing fun about it, it's tiny!" complained Dad.
- My little brother calls himself fun-size.
- The shop sold fun-size packs for lunchboxes.
- Each fun-size bag has only six sweets.
- The puppy is a fun-size version of its mum.
- If a normal bar weighs 50 grams and a fun-size one weighs 15, the fun-size one is less than a third.

### Note

Trap: «fun» doesn't mean more; it means smaller. Plain word: small, mini. In maths problems, compare the weights to see how much less you get.
