### In the lessons

In everyday and adult life it says who pays for something: «the library is funded by the council». In news, «underfunded» schools or hospitals do not get enough money. Phrases: funded by, publicly funded, well-funded, underfunded, fully funded.

### Note

Usually used with «by» to name the payer. Opposite idea: unfunded, underfunded. Related noun: funding.
