## In Jewish tradition

A drinking cup, such as Joseph's silver cup hidden in Benjamin's sack, or the cups of wine set before the Rechabites.

**Interpretation.** Joseph's goblet is seen as a test of whether the brothers would abandon Benjamin as they had abandoned Joseph. The Rechabites' refusal to drink is praised as loyalty to their ancestor's command.
