### In the lessons

One of the most common words in English. In school it is used for plans («What are you going to do?») and for perseverance («keep going»). In maths, «going up in twos» means counting 2, 4, 6. Informally «gonna» is how «going to» sounds in fast speech. In stories, «while the going is good» means leave while you still can.

### Note

«Going to» + verb = future plan or prediction (It's going to rain). Spoken quickly, it sounds like «gonna», but write «going to» in school. Past of go is «went», past participle «gone». «Going» on its own can also mean leaving: «I must be going».

## In Jewish tradition

In these texts "going" often means journeying, or "going out" means setting off for work or travel.

**Interpretation.** In Moses' blessing, "thy going out" for Zebulun is read by tradition as trade and travel, which supports Issachar's study. Zebulun and Issachar are said to share the reward.
