## In Jewish tradition

In the Torah, gold is the precious metal used to build the Tabernacle, its furniture and the priests' garments.

**Interpretation.** Tradition says the Tabernacle's gold was given freely by the people. The Golden Calf, also made from gold, is read as a warning against misusing riches.
