## In Jewish tradition

Where murderers struck Ish-bosheth, and Joab struck Abner and Amasa, in treacherous killings.

**Interpretation.** These deeds are read as warnings about treachery and revenge. Joab's killing of Abner and Amasa was later held against him, and David charged Solomon to deal with it.
