# guiltiness

noun

«guiltiness» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

## In Jewish tradition

Means the blame or guilt that falls on a person or a whole people for a wrong. It can bring punishment on a community. Ezra uses it in a prayer of confession, saying the people's guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.

**Interpretation.** Tradition sees sin as bringing responsibility on the whole community, which is why leaders and neighbors must avoid even accidental wrongs. Ezra's prayer is a model of confessing shared guilt with shame.
