# hallow

verb

## In Jewish tradition

Used for setting apart God's name, the sabbaths, the altar, and the people. God says "I am the LORD who hallow you."

**Interpretation.** Tradition links this to sanctifying God's name (kiddush hashem) by living rightly, and to Shabbat being made holy by God and by the people keeping it.
