### In the lessons

Hullo is common in old British books such as The Wind in the Willows and Winnie-the-Pooh; the animals greet each other with «Hullo!». It is the same word as hello and hallo. In stories, «Hullo, hullo!» often shows a cheerful character noticing something.

### Note

Same meaning as hello, hallo and hiya (informal). Old-fashioned in writing today; use hello in your own stories unless the voice is old-fashioned.
