Comparison: hungrier, hungriest (y changes to i). The noun is «hunger». «Starving» is a very strong word for hungry. Do not confuse «hungry» with «angry», though «hangry» is a joking word for angry because hungry. «Thirsty» means needing drink, not food.

## In Jewish tradition

Interpretation: The Torah and Psalms stress feeding the hungry as God's own way. Tradition treats giving food to the hungry as a basic duty of charity.
