### Note

Regular verb: hurled. «Hurl» is stronger than «throw». Safety: never hurl objects at people. Hurling (the sport) is not the same as «curling» (a sport with stones on ice).

## In Jewish tradition

Used as in everyday English: to throw something with force. In the law of the man-slayer it means throwing an object at someone.

**Interpretation.** The law of the cities of refuge separates killing by accident from killing in hatred. A person who hurled something with no hatred and no ambush was to be judged as an accidental killer, not a murderer.
