### In the lessons

In feelings and bullying lessons: sometimes it helps to ignore unkind teasing and walk away; but don't ignore bullying — tell an adult; leaving someone out on purpose («ignoring them») is also unkind. In safety: never ignore a warning sign, an alarm or pain. In online safety: ignore and block messages from strangers. Phrases: ignore someone, ignore the rules, ignore a warning, can't ignore, completely ignore.

### Note

Regular verb: ignored. «Ignore» is not the same as «not know»: «ignorant» means not knowing. Ignoring a warning can be dangerous; ignoring an insult can be wise. In maths word problems: «ignore the extra information» means some numbers are not needed.
