### Meaning

1. (euphemism, polite) we have done everything we can; now we can only wait and hope.
2. (religious, literal for believers) God will decide what happens.

### In the lessons

Said by families, doctors, and religious people when someone is very ill or the result is out of their control; comforting and kind. Register: polite, religious; all regions.

### Examples

- The doctors have done all they can; it's in God's hands now.
- Gran said, «It's in God's hands,» and went to make tea.
- We've sent the application — it's in God's hands now.
- The coach joked, «Penalties — it's in God's hands.»
- Chat: exam's done, it's in god's hands now
- The farmer planted the seeds and said the rain was in God's hands.

### Note

«God» usually has a capital G. It can hint that someone may die, so listen to the situation. Non-believers may find it odd, but it is meant kindly. Plain words: nothing more can be done; we must wait.
